11. Set Me Free

VERSE 1:
The ocean, sparkles and shines
While my eyes, search the sky for peace of mind
The world, can make me feel so low
That sometimes, I must be alone

VERSE 2:
There's no one, along the way
To sooth, the wounds of yesterday
The rain, keeps falling on the ground
And a kind word, is no where to be found

CHORUS:
Fly, Fly, Fly anywhere. Escape the sun's blinding glare
Take my soul from this misery
And set me free, Why don't you set me free
Just set me free, please won't you set me free

VERSE 3:
Seagull, call out my nae
And fly, so gracefully in the wind
I'll stand on the shore line, and wonder fight out loud
Just where this loneliness will end

VERSE 4:
The waves whisper, quietly
That something's round the corner just for me
Maybe it's a woman, or maybe it's just me
Staring at my reflection in the sea

CHORUS:
Fly, Fly, Fly any...where. Escape the sun's blinding glare
Take my soul from this misery
And set me free, Why don't you set me free
Just set me free, Please won't you set me free

VERSE 4 (reprise):
The waves whisper, quietly
That something's round the corner just for me
Maybe it's a woman, or maybe it's just me
Staring at my reflection in the sea
Maybe it's a woman, or maybe it's just me
Staring at my reflection in the sea

CHORUS:
Fly, Fly, Fly, anywhere, Escape the sun's blinding glare
Take my soul from this misery
And set me free, Please won't you set me free
Take my soul from this misery, And set me free

Let's face it. I was feeling really, really bad that day. I don't know about you, but there are times in my life when everything seems to be going wrong, and there doesn't seem to be any way out. At times like these, I try to go to a soothing place, like the ocean, stare out over the waves and look for some meaning or hope. I drove to the marina in LA that day, listened to the seagulls and essentially penned a plea to the vastness of the Pacific. I asked for an answer, some guidance. I was asking what was going to happen to me. In the bleakness of the moment, I asked for hope. I wrote down my questions, and walked away with this song. I'm hoping that those who also face those trying times in life can listen to this and take some comfort in it.
